Winter is approaching, and one of the most traditional recipes is once again ordered in all the houses and establishments: the hot chocolate. Whether it’s to warm up the night before bed or to calm down in the rush of everyday life, this drink is a more than delicious companion!
There are a variety of ways to prepare hot chocolate, but let’s focus on how to make it creamy in one of the easiest ways!
You will need:
- Two cups milk
- Three tablespoons of chocolate powder
- Up to four tablespoons of sugar
- A box of sour cream
Method of preparation
Beat all the ingredients in a blender, and then bring to a pan over low heat. Stir until boiling. If you wish, you can add some spice at this point, like a stick or a clove. Do not forget to strain the spices, if any, before serving.
If you want even more creaminess, there’s the cornstarch version!
You will need the same ingredients with the addition of a tablespoon of cornstarch. The amount can vary, depending on how creamy you want the drink to be, but it’s important not to overdo it or let it become a porridge.
Method of preparation (with cornstarch):
Bring the cornstarch, milk, chocolate powder and sugar to the blender. Then, bring the mixture over low heat, mixing until boiling. You can still add some spice at this point. Then, remove the mixture from the heat and add the cream, still stirring until it is homogeneous.
At serving time, whatever has been the recipe chosen for hot chocolate, you can add some finalizing details such as whipped cream or marshmallows. If you’re feeling risky, you can still make a hot chocolate recipe with condensed milk and even egg yolk!
