White vinegar to recover a burnt pan
White vinegar is an essential part of the household: it disinfects, deodorizes, cleans … And is perfect for cleaning a pan whose bottom has burned, whether it is stainless steel, cast iron, nonstick or enamel.
Just pour a base of white vinegar and heat for two minutes over low heat. You can also add a few drops of dishwashing liquid.
Turn off to a boil and wait for the vinegar to cool to rub the bottom with a sponge.
Baking soda against burnt pans
Second tip: sprinkle the bottom of the pan with baking soda. Cover with water for 2 to 3 centimeters and heat to a boil. Let cool, fire, baking and then clean with a sponge the bottom of your pan.
You can also make a mix of baking soda and white vinegar. Pour two centimeters of water on the bottom, then add a cup of vinegar. Boil. This should already take off residues. Then remove the pan from the heat and add two tablespoons of baking soda. The mixture may foam, it’s normal! Leave on for about fifteen minutes and rub with a sponge or cloth.
Citric acid to recover a pan
Of natural origin, citric acid is very useful as a descaling agent, and it is ecological because 100% biodegradable! To remove stubborn stains from your burnt pan, especially if it is cast iron, pour in 2 tablespoons of citric acid and cover with boiling water. Then let it work for a few minutes. You can scratch with a wooden spatula, or with a sponge to take off everything. Then rinse the pan several times with plenty of water.
Soda crystals to recover your cast iron pan
A tip to use especially for cast iron pans! The ideal is to soak your pan all night with a mixture of boiling water and soda crystals. Moisturizing the dry materials will allow them to come off more easily. Clean with a cloth moistened with water (you can add a few drops of lemon to it). There you go!
Ashes of wood, effective against burnt pans
So, certainly, you will not necessarily have at hand ash as you burn the bottom of your pan but if this is the case, here is an easy trick to recover your dish: pour in the ashes of wood, and a bottom of the water. Then just boil the mixture and rinse well your dish.
There are other solutions to recover a burnt pan, but less natural (with strong household products, laundry …). Anyway, never use bleach on a stainless steel pan!
